Status: No accepted records.
Taxonomy: There are 10 subspecies currently recognized in its southern South American range (Gill et al 2022).
Comments: An introduction of 89 birds made on the True Howard Ranch near Benkelman, Dundy Co 11 Sep 1970 (Cortelyou 1971) was unsuccessful (Johnsgard 2013, Mollhoff 2022).
